Twelve Days of Christmas Beers – Scaldis Noel
Scaldis – sold in Europe as Bush – is a Belgian brewer that makes wild and spicy beers. Their line up of traditional ales includes some very nice Flanders style soured beers.
Their Christmas beer, Noel, fits in with Scaldis’s other beers. It weighs in at an impressive 12% alcohol but the layers of dark fruit flavors – raisins, prunes, figs, etc. – keep it from tasting boozy. With notes from the Belgian ale yeast used to make it tying the whole thing together, this beer is like a tasty piece of fruitcake without all the dry, gaggy bits.
