Twelve Days of Christmas Beers - Anchor Christmas
I love this beer. It shows up in early to mid-November every year and when it does it’s an event. I always grab a six-pack or four and rush them home.
It’s one of the original American craft beer Christmas beers. Anchor’s brewers admit that they tweek the recipe every year but the result is pretty consistent. It’s a rich ale flavored with a most intriguing mix of spices. They aren’t just the typical pie spices - cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, etc. - not that there’s anything wrong with that. Anchor’s blend results in a unique flavor and aroma that is both dark and warming.
The simple and classy label features a different tree every year. Even so, the illustration still looks Christmassy without being garish.
